PARENTING THERAPY | CO-PARENTING | DBT GROUPS FOR FAMILIES IN WEST SEATTLE
We offer DBT groups for families in West Seattle and provide virtual sessions across Washington State, focusing on Dialectical Behavior Therapy and parenting therapy.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is based on the understanding that multiple things can be true at one time. It teaches us skills to use in everyday situations as well as times of heightened distress and crisis. DBT teaches four core skill sets that, when practiced and integrated into life, will allow us to create and live a life worth living... no matter what that looks like for you.
These groups are for LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent adults, parents, co-parents, and diverse family structures. This world is rough when you are a nuclear-presenting family, and it only gets more difficult to navigate from there. DBT can teach us perpetually useful skills to navigate through a rapidly changing world while grounding us in mindfulness and the present moment. This helps us to ease our anxieties and reduce mood-dependent living, while allowing us to gain confidence to make more effective daily decisions.
DBT teaches us to examine the behaviors we currently hold and helps us apply a foundation of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness while learning to walk the middle path. All of this is grounded in the knowledge that none of us became the way we are in a vacuum—it took time for us to get here, and through DBT, we can find a new path.

Yes. You will need to have an individual therapist to attend the group. If you do not have one at the start of group, we are happy to provide referrals. We have access to a team of clinicians who provide reduced-rate counseling services.
The Parent-Teen group is a multifamily structure where teens participate in group at the same time as their parents in separate rooms. At the end of group, the parents and teens come together with shared skills and homework to practice throughout the week. It is designed to model full family cooperation and generate a systemic change in the family dynamic.
It is recommended that group members stay in the group for at least one full cycle of 24 weeks. Gold-standard, full-fidelity DBT suggests two full cycles to allow members to internalize the skills and incorporate them into their daily lives under the therapeutic supervision of the group facilitator and their individual therapist. The cost per session is $100.
